Dear Yuletide Author 2016

Thank you so much for offering to write a fic for me. I know I will enjoy it. I did put some guidelines and suggestions in this letter but optional details are optional and I wouldn't want to see you frustrated by my letter. I would also like to note that I love all these fandoms equally and I am not hoping for one more than another. Note: My AO3 name is TeaRoses.

Everybody should go read the Yuletide fic I got: http://archiveofourown.org/works/5470544

It's very adorable and it's based on a TV commercial that will take you less than a minute to watch!

I somehow forgot that Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon comes out today. I only read one review and it basically said "Good if you like that sort of thing" and since I already know I like that sort of thing I'm going to buy it. (The last game in the series basically got reviews that said "Not that great even if you liked the other ones" and I was pretty broke at the time it came out so I skipped it.) I could even download the new one tonight. But I have to work this weekend and I don't want to lose sleep playing a game which is probably what would happen.

Dear author letter...

I did my Yuletide sign-up today. I only offered seven fandoms. There are others I'm familiar with, but only seven where I really felt I could review canon and write well. (I never offer the fandoms I'm requesting. I don't have a good reason for that at all but it has become my tradition somehow.) But really offering a large number doesn't help them match you so much as far as I know, and several of my offered fandoms have already been requested by people, so I should be OK.

So far it doesn't look like anyone is interested in requesting (or writing) Les Revenants though. That surprises me.

So I just finished a book called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

My thoughts, which include major spoilers...Collapse )

The central motif of the book is that the author used "found photos" to inspire him for the story, mostly eerie old Victorian ones, and the photos are printed in the book. Except I read it on the Kindle and couldn't see them so well, which probably didn't help my enjoyment of it.

I need to post my Yuletide gifts here, because they were excellent! On New Year's Day after the reveal I can post what I wrote.

This year I recieved three lovely fics:

The first is in the Pumpkin Scissors fandom. Pumpkin Scissors is an anime and manga about soldiers trying to help people rebuild after a war.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

This is an adorable fic with excellent characterization. It's a gen fic, but you can see a bit of Alice/Randel in it too. (Or maybe I just see that everywhere.) I was so glad to recieve it.

The second two are "Yuletide treats" and are both by the same author (still anonymous, but they said they wrote both in their notes). They're in the Yume Kira Dream Shoppe fandom. Yume Kira Dream Shoppe is a cute one-shot manga which has been described as "If Pet Shop of Horrors were sweet and fluffy."

Christmas Wishes

A little follow-up to one of the chapters of the manga, showing some of the future of one of the customers of the Dream Shoppe.

Lovely world-building based on Japanese legend. And a romance, but I won't spoil the surprises for you.

Yuletide letter:

Dear Yuletide author:

Thank you so much for writing for me. I'm sure I'll love whatever you write. The letter is below if you want some specific ideas, but don't feel constrained by my suggestions!

(Note: I am TeaRoses on AO3)

Fandoms are: Silent Hill 3, Die Ärzte, Inspector Sejer Mysteries, Yume Kira Dream Shoppe, Black Jack, Pumpkin ScissorsCollapse )

Fanfic: Die Ärzte

I decided that despite the fact that my life is a horrible mess I should still finish that fanfic I was working on, so I did. My friend helped me a lot with my German, because I made a lot of mistakes and some of the sentences turned out (inadvertently) hilarious or nonsensical. When I edited it I kept thinking how stupid I was to forget some of this stuff but thanks to her it's legible now.

Anyway, it's another real-people slash fic featuring Farin and Bela from Die Ärzte, and once again I made it all up and it didn't happen and it has nothing to do with their real lives. And I still bet they don't care that I wrote it or they wouldn't pose for pictures like this (borderline NSFW). I will be putting up an English version in a bit, just in case anyone actually wants to read either of these. Also it contains a reference to the song "Langweilig" and I titled after another song and I'm going to shut up now.

Word Count: 730
PG-13/T for Teen

Anyway yeah it"s in German...Collapse )
